Bangz & Diva for a Day: Empowering Women with Cancer

We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but cancer marches on every day of the year. When it comes to breast cancer, it’s obvious that this life changing disease is impacting our mothers, our sisters, our daughters and our friends. BreastCancer.org reports “About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
In 2016, an estimated 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 61,000 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.”

But when you fight any illness, it becomes the “new normal” to fall into a dark and lonely routine, often times staying in your pajamas all day and feeling powerless and depressed.
That’s where Diva for a Day, a non-profit that sends women with breast cancer out for a day of pampering and beauty, and Montclair’s own Bangz Salon and Wellness Spa comes in.
Every month a woman is sent to Bangz via Diva for a Day so she can take a day off from the stress of her cancer. If you or someone you know has breast cancer, or any cancer, contact Diva for a Day at http://www.divaforaday.org/contact-us/
Kudos to Bangz Salon for helping to empower women in their time of need. Just getting out of the house and having your hair done is empowering – and can add some much needed brightness to the world of anyone dealing with cancer.
