The West Caldwell Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Series, based on the theme “Libraries Rock,” will kick off with a lively book and film discussion of the Academy award-winning film “Amadeus” on Tuesday, June 26 at 5:00 pm.

Starring F. Murray Abraham (as Salieri) and Tom Hulce (as Mozart), the film is set in 18th century Vienna as composer Antonio Salieri plots to discredit and seek revenge against his rival, the genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The music from Mozart’s numerous operas serves as the backdrop as Salieri loses his grip and concocts his diabolical plan against his archrival Mozart and against God for choosing Mozart as his instrument.

Prior to viewing the film, read the gripping play (with the same title) by Peter Shaffer. Copies of the play are available at the Reference Desk. Ethan Galvin, Senior Reference Librarian, will lead the book and film discussion and light refreshments will be served.

This music-biopic book and film discussion is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. To sign-up, call the Library at 973-226-5441 or sign-up online at http://tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events
