The West Caldwell Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Series, based on the theme “Libraries Rock,” will continue with a lively book and film discussion of the critically acclaimed documentary “What Happened, Miss Simone?” on Thursday, July 12 at 5:30 pm.

This documentary is an intimate and vivid look at the legendary life of Nina Simone, the classically trained pianist who evolved into a chart-topping jazz and blues singer and committed civil rights activist.

This powerful biography and documentary includes rare archival footage, audio recordings, and interviews. Simone was one of the most influential, provocative and least understood artists of our time.

Prior to viewing the documentary, read the gripping biography (with the same title) by Alan Light. Copies of the biography are available at the Reference Desk. Samantha McCoy, Library Director, will lead the book and film discussion and light refreshments will be served.

This music-biopic book and film discussion is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. To sign-up, call the Library at 973-226-5441 or sign-up online at http://tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events.
