Award-winning local poet Diane Lockward will present a Book Talk and Signing of her new craft book “The Practicing Poet: Writing Beyond the Basics” on Sunday, November 11 at 2:00 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.
“The Practicing Poet: Writing Beyond the Basics” includes poems, prompts, tips and essays on the craft of writing poetry. The book is organized in ten sections with each devoted to a poetic concept. The final section, “Publishing Your Book,” covers manuscript organization, book promotion, and presentation of a good public reading. Craft essays and poems are contributed by over 100 contemporary poets including several from New Jersey such as Jessica de Koninck, Adele Kenny, Deborah Gerrish, Tina Kelley, Diane Lockward, Ken Ronkowitz and Maxine Susman who will read some of their poems.
