In another shocking data breach, 533 million Facebook users are victims of hackers at Facebook. The news was announced last night, on April 3. The massive half-billion users' data leak of the victims showed up on a low-level hacking site.

The stolen personal information for the 533 million Facebook users showed up online, free of charge, on Saturday.
Facebook sent out an email statement about the global email scam, saying, "This is old data that was previously reported on in 2019. We found and fixed this issue in August 2019."

Facebook, considered the most prominent social media site globally, has over 2.6 billion active users.
This cyber breach is not considered to be a sophisticated theft, but instead, one that can be done by those with a rudimentary level of hacking knowledge.

The hackers stole names, home addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and email addresses.
In total, the stolen data is from more than one hundred countries. US victims account for about 32 million cyber breaches, with the UK following 11 million and another 6 million from India.

Reports show that once the cybercriminals stole the data, they grabbed Facebook users' phone numbers, and listed them publicly on their social media page.

Facebook has experienced previous successful hacks, including the famous Cambridge Analytics cyber breach in 2018. At the time, hackers could access 87 million users' friends' information, once again utilizing their publicly shared phone numbers on the social media site.

What You Can Do Now to Protect Your Personal Information

Delete or hide your phone number on Facebook.

Change your password, and replace it with a random password generator system, found online.
