Students will use the Crane House and Historic YWCA and Shultz House Museums’ artifacts, primary and secondary source documents from the archives, living history, and field trips to reconstruct the past and how it correlates to our present. In this course students will explore the industrial revolution of Montclair and New Jersey ranging from the 1780s to 1860s, reflecting on unique business owners, technological advancements, and unknown innovators during this time. The focus of the course is the use of primary and secondary sources to provide a deeper understanding of the events and movements in history. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of events and movements covered prior to this course. Full class description and field trips available online.
