HUDSON SHAKESPEARE CO. PRESENT MACBETH DURING WEATHER WEEK

Posted

On Tuesday, October 17 at 7 p.m., Hudson Shakespeare Company will present Shakespeare's Macbeth at Montclair Public Library.

Presented during Montclair Art Museum's Weather Week, weather plays in important role in this eerie tale about the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake.

In the play, a brave Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia. Forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion, he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler. The bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death.

Attendees will be entered to win tickets to Twelfth Night at MSU’s Alexander Kasser Theater.

This performance is free and open to the public, and the library is handicapped accessible. For more information and to register, visit montclairlibrary.org/calendar or call 973-744-0500 ext. 2235.
