Arrest:

On 07-14-2017, officers were dispatched to a report of a subject looking into parked vehicles on Wildwood Avenue. Officers in that area working a construction detail observed a male matching the suspect description. This subject, Danny Gonzalez (20yoa from Newark) was in possession of burglary tools and proceeds from recent thefts from vehicles in that area. He was also arrested and processed on a Theft of a Motor Vehicle charge from a Lorraine Avenue incident in 2016.

Through investigation, Mr. Gonzalez was discovered to have been responsible for 22 vehicle burglaries and the theft of two motor vehicles in Montclair.

These burglaries occurred in the areas of Cooper Avenue, Gordonhurst Avenue, Marion Road and Beverly Road. He was subsequently charged with 13 counts of Burglary and 15 counts of Theft.

There have been 8 recent arrests in incidents involving thefts from motor vehicles. A majority of these arrestees are repeat offenders, arrested for thefts from motor vehicles. In almost every case, the vehicles in question had been left unlocked.

We remind all residents to lock their vehicles while unattended. We also advise against storing valuables in the passenger compartment of vehicles. Please contact the Police Department immediately should you observe anything unusual (973-744-1234)

Gonzalez, Danny

07-12-2017 (Church Street) Mr. was arrested on an open warrant out of this jurisdiction.

07-15-2017 (South Mountain Avenue) Ms. Samantha Emenike, 22yoa from Marlboro, was arrested and charged with DWI.

07-16-2017 (Bloomfield Avenue) Ms. Shomoniqu Kearney, 36yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with DWI.

Burglary/Theft:

07-13-2017 (Lloyd Road) Burglary to a residence through an unlocked rear door. Cash was taken in this incident.

07-14-2017 (Gordonhurst Avenue) Thirteen unlocked vehicles were entered and loose change taken.

07-14-2017 (Wildwood Avenue) Two unlocked vehicles were entered. Loose change was taken in these incidents.

07-14-2017 (Beverly Road) An unlocked vehicle was entered. The locked glovebox was damaged, but nothing was taken.

07-14-2017 (Wildwood Avenue) An unlocked vehicle was entered. Loose change was taken.

07-15-2017 (Park Street) Theft of an unlocked bicycle from the YMCA Bike Rack.
