Montclair Police Department - Blotter 12-05-2017

Arrest:

11-28-2017 (Bloomfield Avenue) Officers responded to a report of a Taxi fare dispute. Upon arriving, Ms. Ebony Banks, 38yoa from West Orange, refused to comply with officers and exit the taxi cab. Ms. Banks was arrested and charged with Theft of Services and Resisting Arrest.

12-02-2017 (Chestnut Street) Ms. Amy Chiarello-Barnett, 49yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with DWI, and issued numerous traffic summonses, after striking two parked vehicles and leaving the scene.

Burglary/Theft:

11-27-2017 (ACME, Valley Road) Theft of a wallet from a pocketbook which had been inadvertently left in the women’s bathroom.

11-30-2017 (Bay Street Station) A locked bicycle was stolen from the Train Station bike rack.

12-01-2017 (Highland Avenue) Theft of loose change from an unlocked motor vehicle.

12-01-2017 (North Mountain Avenue) Theft of a GPS unit from an unlocked vehicle. A delivered package containing clothing items was also stolen off the porch of the residence.

12-01-2017 (Orange Road) Theft of two bicycles from an unlocked garage.

12-02-2017 (Highland Avenue) Theft of loose change from an unlocked motor vehicle.

12-02-2017 (Montclair Avenue) An unlocked motor vehicle was rummaged through, but nothing was reported taken.

12-03-2017 (Glenwood Road) A resident returned home to find an unknown male inside the home. The resident fled the home and called the police. The suspect is described as an African American male, 20-30yoa, wearing a hooded jacket. Access was gained through an unlocked rear door. It does not appear that anything was stolen in this incident.

12-03-2017 (The Fairway) Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious male in rear yards of residences. He was described as an African American male wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Arriving officers observed an Infinity sedan on Greenview Way. This vehicle fled the scene, resulting in a pursuit down Bellevue Avenue, to Broad Street in Bloomfield. The suspect vehicle then lost control, crashing into trees and bushes. The suspect fled this vehicle on foot and was not located.

Strongarm Robbery:

11-28-2017 (Park Street) While walking on Park Street near Walnut Street, two 16yoa Montclair males were approached by three unknown males. These subjects proceeded to strike the two juveniles with their fists and stole the contents of their bookbags, an iPhone, and sneakers.

Miscellaneous:

12-04-2017 (North Fullerton Avenue) Two flower planters at the front entrance to an apartment building were smashed.
