*****Property Damage – Cortland Street - Officers responded to the area on a report of a street sign on the ground. The sign was found detached from the pole and lying on the ground. The sign was taken to Headquarters.
******Property Damage – Washington Avenue – A report came into dispatch of a past occurred incident of a vehicle that was hit by a tree branch while parked in the parking lot of the Big Tree Garage. The employee of NJ Transit had photos of the damage on their cell phone. The vehicle is insured and the victim was advised of how to retrieve a copy of their Police Report at Headquarters.

******Motor Vehicle Stop – River Road – Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of Francisco Canales-Sanchez, 25, of Maryland. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, issued summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, and Driving While Intoxicated within 1,000 Feet of a School. He was advised of his mandatory Court date and released.
*****Motor Vehicle Stop – Route 21 – A motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of Rigo Garcia, 41, of Linden. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, issued motor vehicle summonses for the following offenses: Driving While Intoxicated, Careless Driving, Lamps Required, Failure to Maintain Lane, Tailgating, Refusal, and Refusal, Penalties. He was advised of his mandatory Court date and released from custody.

*******Fraud – Headquarters received a report regarding a theft. The victim stated that they were looking to purchase in iPad for their father on Craigslist. They corresponded with the seller in regard to purchasing the item via Western Union. The victim made the transactions to the seller and was alerted that the money had been taken from the Western Union prior to the victim receiving their package and sharing the passwords with the seller. The package has still not arrived and the seller’s phone is no longer in service.
******Motor Vehicle Crash – Cortland Street – Officers responded to the area on a report of a downed wire struck by a tractor-trailer. Upon arrival, the electric service wire was in the roadway and the service panel was pulled from the exterior of the residence. The driver denied causing the damage. The Nutley Fire Department arrived on scene and PSE&G also responded to repair the wire.
******Property Lost – Franklin Avenue – Patrol units responded to the area regarding a report of theft. The victim stated they brought their vehicle to the car wash and after it was washed, noticed their work phone was missing. They remembered having it while waiting in line responding to email. They further remember leaving the phone on the center console before exiting. ******Phone was found at another location*****
******Theft – Hampton Place – Response was made to the area regarding a credit card that was stolen from a homeowner. The victim called the credit card company to report their card was stolen and were told about two charges on their account. The first charge was for $2,000.00 at an Apple Store and the second charge was for $500.00, but was denied at Michael Kors. The victim is going to contact the credit card company again to further discuss the matter. The Detective Bureau was made aware of the incident.

********Illegal dumping – Blair Road – Officers were dispatched to the area regarding a complaint of illegal dumping. The homeowner stated that someone left 5 large black garbage bags in front of their residence. Observed in the garbage bags was construction debris that did not belong to the homeowner. The victim as advised of their right to sign an Ordinance if the actor/s identity becomes available and to contact Police should they need any further assistance.
*******Motor Vehicle Stop – Harrison Street – A motor vehicle investigation was initiated which resulted in the arrest of Joseph Panico, 21, of Nutley. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, processed, charged with Possession of Less Than 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, issued a motor vehicle summons for CDS In a Motor Vehicle, advised of his mandatory Court date and released.
********Theft from Vehicle – Franklin Avenue – Headquarters received a report regarding a pair of shoes that may have been taken from the back seat of the victim’s vehicle while getting a car wash. The approximate cost of the black patent leather Manolo shoes were estimated at $1,000.00.

********Motor Vehicle Stop – East Passaic Avenue – Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of Vanessa Tejada, 32, of Belleville, who had an outstanding warrant. She was transported to Headquarters without incident, Ms. Tejada was released on her own recognizance after advising her of her new Court date.

**********MOTOR VEHICLE INTO 3RD RIVER – Harrison Street
At approx. 2:42 PM police and fire responded to an overturned motor vehicle in the river at 221 Harrison St. First responders found one vehicle overturned, and another with its front end under water.
Police and fire personnel entered the water and extricated a 79 y/o woman who was submerged, she was driving a 2015 Nissan Murano. Police and EMS were performing life-saving procedures and transported her to an area hospital and critical at time of this report.
Chief Thomas Strumolo, said that it appears, the woman was exiting a drive through CVS window and may have experienced a medical emergency causing her to accelerate through a fence crashing into a parked 2015 Kia causing both to fall approximately 12' into the Third River. He said the woman was the only person injured, and commended all responders on scene.
Nutley Rescue Technician were able to pull both vehicles from the water, by crane. Nutley Crash Investigators were on scene speaking with witnesses and conducting an investigation.
Director Alphonse Petracco said this was a terrible accident and hopes that the quick actions of police and fire make a difference, the victim and family are in his thoughts.
********Investigation – Passaic Avenue – Two parties were arrested and taken into custody. Nutley Police charged Roy Stewart, 48, of Newark. with 2-two counts of Possession of CDS, 2-two counts of Intent to Distribute, 2 counts of Distribution within 500 feet of a Park and 2 Counts of Distribution within 1,000 feet of a school. It was also discovered that Mr. Stewart originally gave an alias for his identity and was also charged with Hindering and was added to the complaint. The confiscated items, which included 19 bags of Crack cocaine, and three “bricks” (containing 150 bags) of Heroin, were placed into the evidence, Stewart was then transported to Essex County Jail, and the vehicle impounded. The second party on scene, Lamar Brown, 38, of Newark, was found to have outstanding warrants out of East Orange and Hillside. He was taken into custody and then transported to East Orange PD per their request. Nothing further at this time.

*****Motor Vehicle Stop – Franklin Avenue – A motor vehicle stop was initiated that resulted in the arrest of Juan Yascaribay, 21, of Belleville, for 6 active warrants out of South Plainfield. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, South Plainfield PD was contacted and stated they would respond to take custody. Mr. Yascaribay was transferred along with his property by two South Plainfield Officers shortly thereafter.
*******Suspicious Incident – William Street – Headquarters received a report regarding a suspicious incident. The victim stated that they received a letter from the NJ Department of Labor approving their unemployment claim. A couple of days later, the victim received a pre-filled bank credit card in the mail, with the amount of $677.00 on it, which coincides with the unemployment benefits that were approved. The victim believed this to be suspicious because they are currently still employed and did not file for unemployment. The financial institution was contacted about the incident and they stated they received a call, claiming to be the victim, requesting a duplicate card. The bank was notified that the caller was not the victim and they disabled the card. Creditors were contacted to make sure there hadn’t been any fraudulent activity. The victim was also advised to contact the NJ Department of Labor and their employer to report the incident. No further information at this time.
******Motor Vehicle Stop – Park Avenue – Officers initiated motor vehicle stop which resulted in the arrest of Michael Casares, 20, of Belleville. He was transported to Headquarters without incident, checked for active warrants with negative results, charged with Possession of Marijuana Less than 50 Grams. Mr. Casares was released with his mandatory Court date.
********Burglary – Villa Place – Headquarters dispatched Officers to the area regarding a past-occurred burglary. The homeowner explained that their worker found the rear sliding door window shattered. Upon inspecting the residence, the owner noticed a couple of their tools were taken and the washing machine and dishwasher were moved. The Detective Bureau was notified and responded to process the scene.
