The Essex County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey announces its first public meeting on Sunday, March 31, from 3-4 p.m., at the Montclair Public Library, 50 S. Fullerton Street. John Black, the President of the Society, will present on the “Plight of the Pollinators, Native Plants to the Rescue.” The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available next door, behind the United Way building at 60 South Fullerton.

Come learn how you can attract birds, butterflies, and pollinators to your garden through the plants you choose. This program will explain what we mean by "native plants" and why our pollinators need them for survival.

John Black is the president of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. He is a Master Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide and a member of the American Arachnological Society. He has volunteered extensively with the Bureau of Land Management in the desert southwest, performing surveys of insects and plants as well as bat populations.
