The Montclair branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), the premiere destination for French language and cultures in the tri-state area, is thrilled to announce an exciting new season of its popular French Summer Day Camps & Classes. This summer, toddlers and kids will travel through France, exploring its picturesque farmlands, panoramic waterfronts, majestic castles, and illustrious history—all without leaving Montclair!

Taught by highly-trained native French speaking instructors, FIAF Montclair’s summer programs are perfect for toddlers, kids, and teens of all ages and at every level, whether brand new to the language or bilingual. With an array of fun, stimulating classes, themed activities, special workshops, and field trips that draw on Montclair’s acclaimed cultural offerings, kids enhance their skills, discover new passions, and unleash their creativity—all en français!

Along with FIAF’s popular à petits pas French classes for toddlers (ages 2–4), Mini Fun in French for Toddlers (ages 3–5) immerses children in the French language through stories, art projects, games, yoga, music, and dance. With brand new themes each week, from La montagne (The Mountains) to La mer (The Sea), toddlers will embark on a fascinating journey through France. They will build cities with the Montclair STEM Center; paint an ocean-themed mural with Senegalese artist Papa Gora Tall; create an herbarium with their own aromatic herbs; visit a farm and create their own recipes featuring farm-fresh produce; and much more!

In a special new season of Fun in French for Kids, children ages 6–10 learn French while engaging in stimulating creative projects. Kids are treated to adventures throughout Montclair and participate in workshops taught by experts—from Michelin-starred Chef Nicolas Houlbert to photographer Brittany DeMaio of Little Nest Portrait Studios. They will compete in Olympic sports, design a royal palace, shoot a stop-motion film featuring their own model vehicles, build a pirate ship, and participate in a scavenger hunt at Montclair’s picturesque Van Vleck House & Gardens.

Teens gain a leg up in school with FIAF’s summer Immersion Classes (for ages 11–17), where they can boost their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills at any level—a great way to sharpen skills for the SAT and AP tests!

Featuring the most advanced pedagogical curriculum and educational technology, FIAF’s programs offer a hands-on approach to French language instruction. Emphasizing creativity and discovery, FIAF Montclair’s Summer Classes & Day Camps offer toddlers, kids, and teens a fun, engaging, and enriching approach to learning as they explore French language and culture, and discover the world at large.

Why learn French?

Mastering French is an asset to your child’s education because French is:

An international language spoken by more than 100 million people on five continents

A window to the cultural richness of France and other French-speaking countries

One of the top three most widely-used languages in business (ABC News, August 2011)

A stepping-stone to learning other widely-spoken international Romance languages such as Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese
