Dr. Prudence Jones, Professor of Classics and Humanities at Montclair State University, will present a slide-lecture titled "Springsteen and His Layered Lyrics" on Thursday, May 3 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.

Listen to some of Springsteen's popular hits such as "Atlantic City," "Born to Run," "Born in the U.S.A." and "Glory Days" as they are analyzed and discussed. Dr. Jones will discuss the way Springsteen's music has been influenced by the American folk tradition. Learn how "The Boss" has also created new sounds and messages through experimental reinterpretation of folk traditions.

This program, funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. To sign-up, call the Library at 973-226-5441 or sign-up online at http://tinyurl.com/WCPL-Events.
