Wide Spread Damage - 3 Deaths - in Wake of Storm

The wild storm that brought high winds, hail, heavy rain and lightening also resulted in downed wires, heavy fallen trees and 3 deaths.

The entire tri-state area was under attack from the powerful storm leaving hundreds of thousands of homes without power.

In Fairfield, Connecticut, a tree fell on a car and killed one person.In Newburg, New York, tragedy struck as an 11-year old girl sitting in her SUV with her mother was killed by a falling tree. In Danbury Connecticut, a man died when a tree fell on his truck, and a teen also was seriously hurt while sheltering in a dugout on a baseball field.

For now, avoid downed wires which may be live and dangerous.

In the Caldwells, Jefferson Elementary School and Grover Cleveland Middle School have a delayed opening.

In Montclair, numerous streets are closed off including the upper part of Walnut Street near Valley Rd; Rosewell Terrace, Champlain Terrace, High Street between Orange Road and Cedar Avenue and Cleveland Road.
